Material Technologies, Inc Completes Installation of its Fatigue Fuses to Portable Bridge

Los Angeles, CA-- May 17, 2006—Material Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB; MTNA.OB - News) ("MATECH") following its announcement on April 26, has completed the installation of its proprietary Fatigue Fuses on a prototype portable bridge to be tested at the US Army’s Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland.

This bridge, fabricated using a high strength aluminum alloy, was designed and built by a subsidiary of General Dynamics, Inc. in Germany. Matech was invited to provide its Fatigue Fuses which are intended to evaluate the bridge’s capability to withstand relatively few but severe repeated load cycles; for example, military tank crossings. It will be tested over the next several months.

The Fatigue Fuse is comprised of several finger-like metal strips, each attached at one end to a common base. The Fuse is adhered to the structure in a region of high stress, so it is subject to the same strains as the bridge structure. Each finger is designed to separate at a different fraction of the predicted fatigue life of the structure; for example, 20, 40, 60, and 80%. The Fuse includes a means of remotely indicating the separation of one or more of its fingers.
