BRIEF EXPERIENCE SUMMARY
Bridge Inspection & Transportation Engineering

  1. Development of Electrochemical Fatigue Sensor (EFS) for structural assessment on bridges
  2. Operations Director for execution of EFS bridge inspection contracts in NJ, UT, MA, PA.

Repair and Rehabilitation Design
Structural Analysis Team Ground Zero

  • Evaluation of remaining buildings at the WTC site;
  • Design of Verification Test for Structural Column Load Transfer for Replacement of Damaged Columns, Verizon Building;
  • Evaluation of Residual Stresses in Structurally Damaged Building to Determine Fitness-For-Service and Structural Integrity, DASNY

Testing and Instrumentation Summary

  • Design and Stress Analysis of Buffalo Subway Trains (NFTA), AASHTO weldment classifications used in train truck frame analysis for life extension calculations
  • Railcar Fiber Reinforced Insulator Rods Fatigue Behavior and Design Analysis
  • Electrical Insulator Base Plates Design and Materials Processing Analysis
  • Consolidated Edison Hydrostatic Proof Testing Design
  • Design and Development of Corrosion Classification Specification for Telephone Box Contacts, St. Thomas
  • Evaluation of Jet Fuel Tank Design, Damage, Stresses, Operations, and Specifications, Newark International Airport

Other Experience
The New York Mets

  • Project Director for the New York Mets for Sam Schwartz Engineering, NYC, for comprehensive transportation engineering, transit planning and operational analysis project.  This project took place during the construction of the Mets new stadium at Citi Field.
  • Headed the interagency coordination as the owner’s rep with Mayor Bloomberg’s office, NYC Parks Dept., NYPD, NYC DOT, NYS DOT, Central Parking, USTA, NYS TMC.

Triborough Bridge MPT Design and LOS Analysis

  • Analyzed LOS and several Maintenance and Protection of Traffic scenarios based of length of time of construction, time of year (seasonal and event drive, i.e. baseball season and the US Open).
  • Prepared recommendations for the optimal MPT design and closures in conjunction with their planned Bronx Whitestone closures to minimize impacts and maintain adequate connectivity through the NYC area.

Piaggio/Vespa Transportation Policy Development

  • Developed 5 programs to be implemented in various U.S. and Canadian cities to promote reduction of per mile emissions and traffic congestion through the use of motor scooters.  Program addressed parking policies, managed lane use, steps to implementation, funding options for various programs, amongst other details.
  • Performed interagency coordination with DOT’s and law enforcement to implement programs.
  • Comprehensive traffic model was created using Synchro/ Sim Traffic to quantify the reduction in delay and emissions resulting from replacing 20% of 4-wheeled vehicles with motor scooters into the Central Business District of Manhattan .  This model is the first of its kind.

Prior Experience Summary

From Spring 1999 to Fall 2000, Ms. Miceli was a graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech for the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics, responsible for developing and implementing in-situ infrared thermography evaluation techniques for fiber reinforced polymer matrix bridge decks, as well as an overall health monitoring program, which included acousto-ultrasonic and acoustic emission field testing.

In 1998 Ms. Miceli was employed with Wiss, Janney, and Elstner at the FHWA’s NDE Validation Center in McLean, VA. Her responsibilities there included ultrasonic testing of bridge components, root cause failure investigations in civil structures, and construction management.

From 1996 to 1999 she was an undergraduate research assistant, during which time her responsibilities included new method development of acoustic microscopy flaw detection in ceramics, ultrasonic wave propagation measurements in ceramics and metals, eddy current testing of automobile and bicycle components, microwave moisture detection in polymers, induction cure monitoring, and general metallography.
